Congressional Award
St. Louis Irish Arts is the only school that we know of, where pretty much all of the traditional Irish Arts are offered all in one place. Mrs. Gannon aims to keep the methods of teaching the same as they were when she and Dr. G learned them in Ireland. St. Louis Irish Arts is a member of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and Mrs. Gannon has received numerous awards for her undying dedication to the promotion of the Irish Arts. She is also well known in the St. Louis community for her dedication to her students.
Our students are encouraged to do good for the community. We regularly perform at nursing homes and many places where people need a little 'pick-me-up'. This is particularly evident in March, when we perform a lot of shows. Some of our students go above and beyond.
Our students are offered a chance to compete for the Missouri Congressional Award. Mrs. G helps them keep on track so they can compete for this prodigious award. http://www.congressionalaward.org/council/missouri.php The Congressional Award is a public private partnership created by Congress to promote and recognize achievement, initiative, and service in America’s youth. The Congressional Award provides a unique opportunity for young people to set and achieve personally challenging goals that build character and foster community service, personal development, and citizenship.
